The Chantry Saddle bag is the first of two new designs created in 2 years, since the St Leonards studio closed when the Modern Good store shut in Sept 22.

The Chantry is an area consisting of Edwardian Arts and Crafts and later 1920s housing in Bexhill.

This saddle bag is born from the desire to create a useful hand free satchel that is larger than the early Burton Bag, and has a gusset that is a rare addition to the St Leonards heritage.

The beautiful nude saddlery leather is A grade from Italian cows, and is wonderfully supple and waxy. From the moment you touch it, the oils in your hands and the UV light starts to tan and darken the leather and you'll end up with the most beautiful tanned bag that is unique to you and your life. If you swipe to look at the side gusset photo you can see where the leather was exposed to the sun in one spot and tanned. As you go out and about, your Chantry Saddle bag will tan and darken beautifully like a beloved pair of Greek Sandals.

The bag has a curved equestrian flapover with a flat tie that closes with double D rings

Internally, there is a zipper pocket for keys, some phones and other valuables. The flapover is secured to the main bag with 5 rivets on the back.

The gusset allows for stuffing the bag with a paperback a pair of spectacles and all your usual gubbins. 

You can choose between brass gold hardware or silver plated brass for a silvery finish.

The strap is a dark earthy taupe heavy cotton webbing with adjustable sliders and heavy trigger hooks. Designed to be worn across the body like a satchel. Suitable for women and men.

The Natural and Chestnut bags will both have the earthy taupe webbing and the Cinder black bag will have a black webbing strap.

This design gives a modern take on a traditional hunting bag.If you purchase the bag as the pre order offer, you are buying the bag without seeing all the colours made up, and without seeing the bag worn on a body. You get to purchase it at a considerably lower price than after the offer ends. You can look at other bag designs to see what the Chestnut briwn leather looks like and the same applies for the Cinder black.

Of course you can still return it for a full refund up to 10 days after receipt, if you're not totally smitten.

Pre order offer runs from 10th September to 30th September. The price will then go up to £330 in October.

Dimensions: 34cm long top to bottom x 31cm at widest width with a 3cm gusset all way round. The webbing strap is 3cm wide and adjustable with sliders.
